the story of our seal

Our new seal draws together symbols of our patron, our Catholic faith, and our diocesan heritage. Each element was chosen intentionally to reflect the mission of Saint Luke Catholic School: forming students in faith, wisdom, and service with Christ at the center of all we do.

The ox represents Saint Luke, symbolizing sacrifice, service, and Christ as the High Priest. It also reflects the Gospel of Luke's emphasis on Christ's Passion and sacrifice.

The quill represents Saint Luke as the author of Scripture, honoring the Gospel and the written Word of God, while also symbolizing scholarship.

The Chi-Rho (☧), , remains at the center of the crest — because Christ has always been and will always be at the center of our lives and our school. 

The Sacred Heart of Jesus, is represented by the heart aflame and pierced by thorns, a reminder of Christ’s infinite love, which we are called to emulate.  

The crescent moon is inspired by the coat of arms of the Diocese of Arlington. A longstanding symbol of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it recalls her title as the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States, and reflects our devotion to Our Lady and our communion with the local Church. 

The gold band is also inspired by the Diocese of Arlington’s coat of arms. Its distinctive engrailed edges are drawn from the heraldic arms of St. Thomas More, patron of the Diocese. Together, they reflect our diocesan heritage and the courageous witness of faithful discipleship.
