Nurturing the Whole Child — Mind, Body, and Soul


Saint Luke Catholic School offers a faith-filled, developmentally appropriate, full-day Pre-K program for four- and five-year-olds. Our preschool provides a nurturing environment where children learn and grow through engaging experiences and creative play. The program supports social, emotional, academic, and spiritual development, building a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

Engaging, Play-Based Curriculum


Through play, our preschoolers build social skills, confidence, and curiosity while actively exploring both physical and cognitive challenges. Guided by trained faculty, thematic units introduce early literacy using an Orton-Gillingham–based approach to strengthen phonics and foundational reading skills, alongside hands-on learning in math, science, art, and social studies, plus weekly specials in art, music, PE, technology, and library.

Academic Structure


SLCS Preschool follows the Diocese of Arlington curriculum guidelines and Virginia’s Foundation Blocks for Early Learning, with daily routines built around monthly and weekly themes. Our Responsive Classroom approach uses multisensory, hands-on activities that support different learning styles while nurturing kindness, independence, and respectful interactions so each child can learn and grow with confidence.

Faith-Based Learning


A child’s sense of God originates from the warm atmosphere of love and acceptance in the preschool environment. Children participate in weekly religion lessons, prayer time, scripture, and attend school Mass. Students are paired with older “Prayer Buddies” to foster connection and mentorship.

Daily Schedule & Logistics


  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (doors open at 7:40 AM)
  • Rest Time: One hour daily quiet/rest period
  • Snack & Lunch: Nut-free snacks provided; students bring lunch from home
  • Uniform: FlynnO’Hara uniform required (extra clothes recommended)
  • Toilet Training: Students must be fully potty-trained (no pull-ups)

Extended Day Program


An optional Extended Day program is available from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, offering a safe, nurturing space with time for free play, crafts, quiet activities, and snacks. Staffed by familiar adults in age-appropriate spaces.

Enrollment Details


  • Children must be 4 years old by September 30.
  • Registration opens August 1 for the following school year.
  • Licensed through the Commonwealth of Virginia and aligned with Diocese of Arlington and Virginia Foundation Blocks for Early Learning.
