Founded in Faith, Built by Community

Saint Luke Catholic School opened in 1962 through the generosity of Saint Luke Parish, beginning with 50 students in grades one through five, taught by the Felician Sisters from Lodi, New Jersey. Mass was held in the gymnasium, and parents provided religious education to over 250 children. The parish celebrated its first Confirmation and First Eucharist in 1963, laying a strong foundation of faith and community.

Growing Together: Expanding Facilities and Serving Our Region

In 1979, when the parish divided to form Saint Catherine of Siena in Great Falls, SLCS continued to welcome students from neighboring communities such as Reston, Herndon, Great Falls, and Vienna. In 1982, the parish dedicated a new church building, replacing the gym chapel affectionately known as “Our Lady of the Gymnasium,” symbolizing the school’s growing role as a regional faith and education center.

As the school grew to include grades one through eight and added kindergarten in 1985, its facilities expanded with new classrooms, a convent, and a larger library. The gymnasium was remodeled to include a music room, stage, and kitchen, supporting a broad curriculum and community events.

Embracing Technology and Enrichment

Today, our classrooms thrive with hands-on learning, purposeful use of technology, and strong academic support. LabLearner, a hands-on STEM curriculum, enhances science instruction from kindergarten through eighth grade, enrichment centers strengthen language arts and learning foundations, and students in grades 2–8 benefit from a 1:1 Chromebook program that supports—not replaces—meaningful instruction.

A SAFE PLACE TO LEARN & GROW

SLCS maintains a thoughtful, comprehensive approach to campus safety, including trained on-site security, controlled building access, and regularly reviewed emergency protocols.

Together, these measures create an environment where our faculty and students can focus on what matters most: teaching, learning, and growing in community.
